Do you know that almost 10 lakh students were unable to crack JEE this year? If you are one of them, do not back down. Failing to clear JEE in the first attempt does not eliminate your chances of becoming an engineer. Remember, you must always keep your self-confidence intact. Your JEE scores do not highlight your intelligence, but simply allow working harder and developing on your skills.

In our country, there are many prestigious colleges in which you can enroll yourself. Do keep the option to crack the JEE exam in the following year open. If not, select the next best college option under JEE (Main).  The gateway to studying at an IIT is not shut yet. You can still get admission to one by appearing for GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) once you complete your graduation. Also, in the future, you can apply for postgraduate studies offered by IITs and IISc.

If you were not able to crack JEE this year, do you feel that:

  • Urgh! I could have done well if only I had worked harder and balanced my preparation for board exams and JEE.
  • If I was serious enough when I had enough time in hand, I could have easily got through.
  • My home tutors were not well-versed with the preparation methods of a national-level competitive exam. I wish I was not dependent on them.

Here is what you can do to get a step closer to your engineering dream:

  • Join a Coaching Institute where you will be given the right direction to achieve your JEE goals. A good coaching institute is one that lets you understand your problems and helps channelize your true potential. Not only this, they give you the best available study material and various JEE level Test Series conducted at an all-India level. A reputable coaching institute lets you understand your Rank Potential Index and has a track record of producing toppers.
  • Sign Up For An Online Test Series With an Exhaustive Question Bank. They not only give you JEE online practice tests but access to numerous JEE previous year question papers as well. Here, importance is given to concept-based learning so that you do not get confused with your syllabus and the other important subject-wise topics.
  • You are given two attempts for JEE (Advanced) and three for JEE (Main). What if you exhaust these attempts? Consider Other Options. Institutions like the NITs, IIITs and GFTIs (Govt Funded Technical Institutions) are some of the best engineering colleges in the country. You can always appear for exams like GATE and GRE to pursue your master’s from an IIT. Give exams like BITSAT and appear for the state-level engineering entrance exam.
  • Once you enter college, you are welcomed to a new world with horizons broader than you could ever imagine. So, go on and enroll yourself in various extra-curricular and non-engineering courses. Do not restrict your learning to your professors. Go beyond and explore your interests. But if you are still inclined – there is a way you can learn from IIT professors without being in an IIT. Sign up on NPTEL and reap the benefits of the knowledge of the IIT professors. You can even sign up for courses in ethical hacking, cybersecurity, etc., or anything that your heart is set on.
  • Not being able to crack the JEE doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the awesomeness of an IIT campus. Go on, get the best of their resources. Be a part of their tech fests, cultural fests or enroll for their short–time courses (they usually run for about a week).

Often when we begin our JEE preparation, we are highly motivated. But later, the level of enthusiasm keeps fading. It mostly happens due to the lack of proper guidance. Students give up on their preparation during the last months when their chances of selection are maximum.

All in all, do not let an unsuccessful attempt lower your confidence. Believe in yourself and do what you love. Moreover, no matter what happens always stay positive. Remember, a healthy body nurtures a healthy mind. Eat well and follow a routine. With a well-structured study plan and a myPAT course, we are sure that you will live your dream of becoming an engineer.
