JEE Main 2020 Registration Starts, Check How To Apply

The registration for JEE Main is done online, through the official website of NTA JEE Main. Eligible candidates must register themselves on the online portal to apply for the exam. Candidates must check their eligibility before applying for the exam. The fee payment process is also online.

JEE Main Application Process

For registrations, interested students can apply by visiting the official website of NTA. Let’s learn how students can complete the application process for JEE Main 2020.

The application process is divided into four major steps:

  • Applying for online registration
  • Filling the online application form
  • Uploading scanned photo & signature
  • Paying examination fee

Following is the detailed application process for JEE Main:

  1. Visit the official website of NTA.
  2. Click on the ‘Fill Online Application Form’
  3. Under the New Candidate Registration, click on the ‘Registration’ link.
  4. Read all the instructions and click on ‘Click here to Proceed’ button.
  5. Enter all details and complete your registration.
  6. Note down the generated Application Number and create your Password.
  7. Repeat steps 1 & 2, then sign in with your credentials under ‘Only Registered Candidates Sign In’.
  8. Complete the application form and click on ‘Submit’.
  9. Upload scanned image & photograph in the required size.
  10. Pay the application fee online via Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI/Paytm Services.

Note: After successful payment, take a print out of your application form for future reference.

JEE Main Eligibility Criteria

  • There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main.
  • Candidates who have passed class 12th  / equivalent examination in previous two years, or are appearing in the current year irrespective of their age can appear in JEE Main.
  • JEE Main candidates can participate in the entrance exam for three consecutive years.
  • The exam will be conducted twice a year, candidates may appear in both the sessions.
  • If a candidate sits for both the sessions, it shall be counted as a single attempt.
  • It is essential for B.E/ B.Tech applicants to have passed the qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject.

JEE Main Eligibility Criteria for NITs, IITs, and CFTIs

Students seeking admission to any of the NITs, IITs, and CFTIs need to fulfill the eligibility criteria set by NTA. The criteria are as follows:

  • Should have scored more than 75% marks in the qualifying examination (12th) or should be among top 20 percentiles in the board exams.
  • The minimum percentage required for SC/ST students is 65%.
  • Should have compulsorily studied Physics & Mathematics with Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational as one of the subjects.

JEE Main Application Correction

Candidates who register themselves also have the option to correct their mistakes. They need to pay an additional charge to make any correction in the application. It will be a one-time facility available to the students who wish to make any correction.
