JEE scores to be used for AKTU Admissions in 2021

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) scores will be used for admission to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow from 2021.

AKTU will not conduct its own entrance test called Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE). AKTU will use the score sheet of JEE Main, conducted by NTA as per the latest decision to fill 1.40 lakh seats in 750 colleges across the state.

However, for 2020, UPSEE will be conducted as planned on 10th May 2020, so that students can be better prepared to appear for JEE Main next time around. The admission form for UPSEE will be available from 27th January 2020. JEE Main scores will be effective only from 2021. AKTU will stop conducting UPSEE after 2020.

AKTU’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Vinay Pathak stated that “The decision has been taken in this regard. It will not be implemented from the year 2020 because we want to give some time to students to prepare themselves better when they appear in JEE in 2021. It will save a lot of time of students who otherwise had to appear separately for JEE and SEE as it exists today.”

He further added that “Many states are already using JEE score to fill its engineering seats. So, the state government has also decided to make use of it and save students from appearing in multiple exams.”

Factors behind the decision

This decision has been taken after a thorough discussion with UP’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath. A presentation was made for him to convince him of the benefits of using JEE score. The presentation also focused on how this decision would ease off the pressure from students who prepare for two separate exams every year.

This decision is going to benefit a lot of students, especially from Uttar Pradesh. They can purely focus on preparing for JEE Main from next year onwards.

JEE is held for admission to IITs, NITs and other top Engineering Colleges in India. This year, JEE Main January session has already been conducted from 6th to 9th January 2020. The April session will be held from 3rd to 9th April 2020.

Those students who are preparing for JEE Main 2020 this year can boost their preparation to the next level by taking JEE Main 2020 Mock Test. The test will help in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the students and also provide an in-depth analysis of the test attempt.
