Indian Institute of Science (IISc), who conducts the KVPY exam has started accepting applications from 11th of July 2018 for the 2018-19 batch. The last date to apply for the exam is the 31st of August 2018. The application is open for all the three streams of KVPY i.e. SA, SX and SB.
What makes you eligible
To be eligible for the KVPY streams, here is the official criteria that you need to fulfill:
SA-
- You must be a student of class 11 (science stream)
- You will need a minimum of 75% in Maths and Science subjects in class 10 (65% for special categories)
SB-
- You must be a student of class 12 (science stream)
- You will need a minimum of 75% in Maths and Science subjects in class 10 (65% for special categories)
- And to be eligible for the scholarship, you must secure at least 60% (50% for special categories) in math and science subjects in your 12thboards exam.
SX-
- You must be a student of class 12 (science stream)
- You will need a minimum of 75% in Maths and Science subjects in your class 12 (65% for special categories)
- And to be eligible for the scholarship, you must secure at least 60% (50% for special categories) in the final exam of your 1st year of undergraduate
But are you eligible to crack the exam?
Well, the eligibility criteria is one thing and cracking the exam is a whole different world.
KVPY is the first attempt by students of class 11 of science stream to compete in a national level exam. Cracking the exam is not easy by any means and it takes hard work and dedication to make yourself eligible for the exam.
Here are some tips for you to stay ahead before the exam on the 4th of November:
- The KVPY 2018-19 is just 3 months The first thing you need to do is to know the syllabus and the concepts that you need to cover.
- The next step is to set a timetable to study the concepts and spend time to solve practice numerical problems.
- The exam syllabus is from the NCERT only and you must have covered most of it in school. Get an in-depth understanding of the topics and revise so that your ability to recall the concepts become easier. For this, you can refer to reference books that are easily available.
- As the exam isn’t that far, now is the time to solve the previous year’s papers and KVPY Mock Tests. This will help you to know the pattern of the exam and what you can expect in the exam.
- Don’t forget to track your preparation and know your strengths and weaknesses. There is still time to work on the weaknesses and improve your final exam score.
