JEE Mains Physics
A sizeable chunk of Physics syllabus for JEE Mains is from the textbooks only. However, a few topics that are not covered in the school syllabus can be studied from few other JEE preparation books.
Recent trends in JEE Physics
As JEE does not resort to a predictable trend, all the chapters are of very high importance. However, based on experts’ analysis, it is said that Mechanics and Electricity are very important concepts as its questions can be moulded to make student prone to mistakes. Also, ‘Modern Physics’, ‘Magnetism’, and ‘Heat and Thermodynamics’ have been the favourites of examiners as these chapters form the basis of various concepts that students may face in their Engineering syllabi.
Physics by Resnick Halliday
Resnick Halliday is hailed as the ‘Bible of Physics’ as it presents complex concepts in a very simple manner. Also, the questions and exercises from Resnick Halliday are considered to be one of the best for strengthening concepts. This book has been used in JEE preparation since decades and most of the authors refer to this book.
Well, this book is not for the faint-hearted. The higher level problems of Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Electromagnetism in this book are unmatched and require very high concentration levels and patience. However, it is better to refer to solutions if the questions take too much time as it might affect other subjects.
Standard books like NCERT / H.C Verma
Not to forget, standard books like NCERT and Physics by H.C Verma are written by eminent educationists and thus these have a very good explanation in a lesser words. The examples and sample questions used in these books are very helpful in quick recaps in the penultimate phase of preparation.
Question Bank by reputed authors like B.M Sharma, D.C Pandey etc.
Well, these books offer a plethora of questions bespoke to JEE pattern. Such books cannot be ignored because besides conceptual clarity, you also need to ensure that you are acquainted with the JEE pattern and question types.
