JEE Advanced 2018: Result Declared !

In a first, IIT Kanpur organized JEE Advanced 2018 completely online on 20th of May. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur has released the results today. The official answer key was released on 29th of May.  Candidates who qualify the exam will be eligible to take admissions in B. Tech courses offered by the esteemed Indian Institute of Technologies.

The exam was held on 20th of May 2018 and more than 1.55 lakh candidates across the country have appeared for the exam. More than 33% of the qualified students decided to ditch the exam, more than 7000 registered candidates appeared for Paper 1 and more than 9000 registered candidates in Paper 2 remained absent from the exam.

A candidate can view and download the results on the official website: For JEE Advanced 2018 results, candidates need to keep the following handy:

  • JEE Advanced 2018 registration number
  • Date of Birth
  • Mobile number
  • Email ID

After submitting the above information on the official website, results will be displayed on the screen. The candidate will also be able to download the results for further use. The rank list for reserved categories has been released separately.

The result is based on the aggregate marks scored in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics of both paper 1 and paper 2.

With results declared, the cut-off to take admissions in different branches of IIT’s B. Tech programme will be released soon.

How has the rank of aspirants with equal score been settled?

If candidates have scored the same marks, the following policy was used to resolve the situation:

  • The candidate with the higher score in Mathematics has been ranked above the other.
  • If the scores still tie, then the candidate with the higher score in Physics has been awarded the higher rank.
  • Both the candidates have been given the same rank if the above policy couldn’t resolve the issue.

What lies ahead of the results?

With results and ranks out now, the qualified candidates will need to attend a counseling session. The counseling will be done by The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSSA) and the qualified candidates of JEE Advanced 2018 will be required to register and attend the same from 2nd week of June to the last week of June.

In this counseling session, after the registration, the candidates will require to fill in the college and course of their choice. The participating colleges will allocate seats based on preferences. After the seats are allocated, the candidates will require to submit their documents for verification at the reporting center. After verification and payment of fees, admissions will be confirmed.
