- Know each detail
Unless and until you know the detailed exam pattern, marking scheme, syllabus, important dates and other relevant stuff, you will not be able to concentrate in the right direction. There is a common misconception that preparing for IITJEE automatically ensures that you are all set for the other entrance exams, but that is not the case. You need to minutely identify the specific details of every different exam in every aspect.
- Manage time properly
Preparing a strict time table does not ensure effective preparation. Follow it religiously. Even if you fall back on it any day, clear your backlog in a week. Otherwise, you will get used to procrastination and your exam preparation might suffer. Make a list of long term and short term goals which will help you in your preparation further.
- Solve previous years question papers
If you don’t know how the D-Day is gonna be, you will never be able to fully prepare for it. It is very important to solve previous years question papers and take mock tests in the real test environment to ensure that there are no surprises on the D Day. Also, analyse your test results carefully so that you can improve on your weaknesses.
- Give its due importance to all subjects
Everyone has his/her set of favourites, even in subjects. Focusing over your main subject by devoting maximum time to it leads to the ignorance of other subjects. That is one major reason of failure in entrance exams. Make sure you don’t succumb to this. Whether you like it or not, give equal attention to each of your subjects in order to achieve success.
- Revision is extremely important
Once done is not done for forever. Even the toppers emphasise hard on the importance of revision before any exam. Prepare the revision notes while studying any concept and keep them handy. Write down your mistakes in one notebook and the important questions in another. This will help you a lot during the revision phase.
