Doubts? Confusions? Yet another round of speculations?
Announcements for the conduct of JEE Main 2019 has turned out more like the release of a controversial movie which raised hundreds of questions in every aspirant’s mind.
First, the bit about NTA being the conducting body of JEE Main 2019 was made official, then the exam mode was turned completely online and at last, the exam occurring twice a year boggled every aspirant’s mind.
The latest in this regard is the official notification released by NTA, that the Aadhaar number, 12 digit identification number issued by UIDAI, is not mandatory for the registration for JEE Main 2019 examination.
After the registration for the first attempt of NTA began in the first week of September, NTA received queries about mandatory filling up of Aadhaar Number in the Application Forms, post which the clarification from NTA has been issued.
The statement from the NTA said, “ it is hereby clarified that while filling in online application form and as per the ‘Replica of Application Form’ given in Annexure VIII (page 39-40)(UGC-NET Bulletin December 2018) in the drop down box regarding ‘Identification Type’ and as also given on page 11, the Aadhaar number is only one of the types of identification and is not mandatory”.
NTA also clarified that the online application form which needs to be filled during the registration, should have a valid government identity number. However, candidates can also provide other identification details such as passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid government identity number.
The registration for the first attempt of JEE Main will end on 30 September and the exam will be held from Jan 6 to Jan 20 next year.
The registration process for JEE Main 2019 will be held on the official website of NTA, nta.ac.in.
