Online registrations have started for JEE Main 2020 from today, i.e., 3rd September 2019. You can check the complete schedule for the same. In an official notification released by NTA, it has announced some major changes in the exam pattern of JEE Main 2020.
For JEE Main 2020’s B.Tech exam pattern, the questions have been reduced from 30 each to 25 each for all three subjects, which makes it a total of 75 questions as compared to 90 questions earlier.
The 25 questions will include 20 MCQ questions and 5 questions ‘will have answer to be filled as numerical value’ – as mentioned in the official notification. JEE Main 2020 will be conducted in two shifts: 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM and 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM. The weightage per question remains the same. Four marks will be awarded for every correct answer, and one mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
Till 2019, a total of 90 questions (30 questions each) from Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics were asked in the exam. All the questions were MCQs and there was no such classification. The earlier concept of Paper 1 and Paper 2 has also been changed. There will now be an additional exam for admission to B.Plan. JEE Main will now be divided into three papers:
- BE/ B.Tech.
- Arch.
- Planning

The mode of JEE Main 2020 is Computer Based Test only. The duration of the exam is 3 hours. Aspirants who are planning to appear for JEE Main 2020 need to keep these changes in mind and prepare accordingly.
