While this is already known by everyone, there are some amazing facts about BITS Pilani, that not many BITSAT aspirants know. Here are some of them:

No Reservation

Yes, this is true! There is no reservation for anyone. The Administration authorities of the institute believe that reservation does not have any role to play in the advancement or progress of the country. Every student in BITS is considered equal with no special privileges.

Inter-Connected Campus

BITS has campuses based at Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai. All these campuses are connected through BITS Connect 2.0 – a million-dollar project. For example, a student from the Hyderabad campus can not only attend lectures at Pilani, but can also interact online and ask queries. BITS is a perfect example of executing remote learning and participatory coursework. Making education more technology-powered, faculty and students need not travel anymore to collaborate with each other. This initiative by BITS to deepen educational ties between its campuses has been praised world-over.

Practice Schools

How many academic institutions in India help students establish a link between the academic and industrial world? While we haven’t heard of many, BITS Pilani has this implemented already. The Practice School system run by the institution is held in two phases, one at the end of second year (1.5 months) and one at the end of the fourth year (for 6 months).

So Flexible

The institute is also known for the flexibility that it offers to students. Apart from opting for dual degree programs, students can also opt for transferring courses from one program to another. Students are given the convenience of choosing the time to attend their lectures, the class and even the timing.

BITSAA Global Network

Since the formation of BITS Students Alumni Association, alumni students participating in the development of the institute has increased. Meetings among past students and the current students are repeatedly arranged, where students from the institution like founders of Hotmail, Wipro or Bharat Forge interact on a regular basis with students. Now, isn’t that cool?

Up-To-Date Curriculum

BITS Pilani is also known for adapting to important changes in education swiftly, even faster than the IITs. AutoCAD is used as a tool in BITS, while IITs still use pencils and drawing boards.

Furthermore, BITS Pilani has recently been declared as one of the six Institutes of Eminence by the Government of India. Apart from contribution to research, quality of faculty and the peer-viewed journals released by the participating institutes were some of the factors considered for selection purposes.

While public institutes selected under this scheme would be receiving funding, private institutes like BITS Pilani would be getting complete autonomy from regulations.
