While privatization has swept across the education sector in our country, government colleges especially the likes of IITs and IIMs remain unmatched. Even very good deemed universities and private colleges in India are not able to match up to the levels of government funded institutions barring a few exceptions among which BITS is the most prominent name.
Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences abbreviated as BITS, was established in 1964 by eminent businessman and industrialist, Late Mr G.D. Birla. In the past decade, BITS has established new centres in Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai.

WHAT is BITSAT based on?
BITSAT an online test that ascertains test-takers’ proficiency in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
BITSAT syllabus is based mainly on the knowledge acquired by students in class XI and XII. However, the exact syllabus is mentioned over the BITS website in the BITSAT 2017 brochure. In addition to these subjects, BITSAT also has 16.66% weight to English proficiency and Logical Reasoning.
When is the BITSAT exam conducted and when is the notification done?
BITSAT notification for online application is usually released in the first week of January and the form submission continues till the first week of March.
The booking of test slot is done in the third week of March.
The hall tickets are available in the first week of April and the BITSAT exam is held in the second week of May.
BITSAT results are released in the first week of July.
What is the BITSAT exam pattern?
BITSAT exam is divided into four categories namely Physics, Chemistry, Math and English Proficiency & Logical Reasoning.
Physics section has 40 questions with 3 marks per each question.
Chemistry section has 40 questions with 3 marks per each question.
Mathematics section has 45 questions with 3 marks per each question.
English Proficiency & Logical Reasoning section have a total of 40 questions(15 English proficiency and 10 Logical Reasoning) with 3 marks per each question.
What is the BITSAT eligibility criteria?
75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with 60% marks in each of the subject.
The test is open for only the students appearing for the class 12 board examination or who have passed class 12 board exam in the immediately preceding year.
How much time is allotted for attempting the questions?
3 hour time is given for the BITSAT exam. If a candidate answers all 150 questions without skipping any, he/she will have an option of attempting 12 additional questions (4 questions from each subject excluding English section). If the candidate has opted for extra questions, he/she cannot go back to rectify any of the previously answered 150 questions.
How much is the BITSAT exam fee?
In BITSAT 2016, the registration fee was Rs. 2200 for males and Rs. 1700 for female candidates.
For a candidate choosing Dubai as the exam centre, the fee is US $ 50 or INR 3000/-
