How to plan?

As the JEE is set to unfold itself in a whole new pattern, the introduction of short answer questions has made concept based study mandatory. You cannot afford to skip concepts and rely on problem solving hacks that may have worked in the erstwhile JEE Advanced exams. Another important consideration you need to do while planning is that the Joint Admission Board has clarified its motive to ensure greater transparency and easier evaluations. As an aspirant, you would certainly need to authenticate the concepts and approach by demonstrating the method used to arrive at the solution. This change would curb the malpractices further. (Read more in our blog titled Online JEE 2018: Short-Answer Type questions)

What are the key topics?

JEE has never been predictable. Well, JEE can consist of 90% questions from a single chapter of Math which most of the students would ignore. However, based on experts’ analysis of the JEE and its evolving pattern, the few traps and risky question types can be identified.

Math

Most Ignored chapters

Well, Math students tend to ignore chapters like Vectors, Matrices and Determinants which often have very easy numerical problems. Questions from these concepts are often not attempted by the students.

Most Correctly attempted chapters

Students emphasize a lot of stress on Differentiation and algebra related concepts which is evident by the fact that questions from Differential Equations and Circles are the most correctly attempted ones.

Most Incorrectly attempted chapters

Beware of these topics. Yes, 3D Geometry and Permutations & Combinations questions which are wrongly answered.

Physics

Most Ignored chapters

The easier chapters like Sound Waves and Errors & Measurements are often ignored by the students. Brush up these concepts as they can be the easiest marks yielding questions in the JEE.

Most Correctly attempted chapters

Kinematics and Magnetic Effects are mostly attempted correctly because these are most emphasized chapters.

Most Incorrectly attempted chapters

Again, you should be highly watchful in these chapters which elicit a lot of mistakes from students. Electrostatics, Oscillations, and Alternating Current are the riskiest of them all.

Chemistry

Most Ignored chapters

Amino Acids are the most ignored chapters in the Chemistry.

Most Correctly attempted chapters

Ionic Equilibrium and Gaseous State are the Chemistry chapters which students do not falter in.

Most Incorrectly attempted chapters

Now, you should be highly careful in the questions from Reactions of Haloalkenes and Haloarenes, Chemical Bonding, and Boric Acid & d&f block elements. These questions are the trickiest and can be the game changers for you.

Online preparation

Preparing online is the best practice for students to rehearse. The additional benefit that testing online offers is that it makes analysing results and performance easier. myPAT does the macro analysis which foresees your existing proficiency, chances of passing, and probable scores. The micro analysis decrypts your performance in each subject, chapter concept, and generates a feedback.

It is of utmost importance to be aware of your strengths and weaknesses so that you can strategize your test taking strategy and preparation accordingly. The analysis done by peers or teachers are prone to human errors as these are based on intuition wherein students do not get correct feedback and analysis. On the other hand, the performance analysis done through online analytics elaborates the various aspects of your performance and help you realize which concepts to focus.
