Yes, the final verdict is here! Starting 2019, the JEE Main will be conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency). As announced, JEE Main will be conducted twice a year – once in January and once in April. Going forward, JEE Main will now compulsorily be conducted as an online exam i.e. CBT (Computer Based Test).

Question:

What is a Computer Based Examination (Online mode)/Computer Based Test (CBT)?

Answer:

In online mode i.e. CBT, the candidates will have to solve the JEE Main paper on computers. Conducted using LAN (Local Area Network), the online mode exams are safer, speedy in terms of result declaration and eliminate the scope of human errors.

What are the advantages of JEE Main online exam over offline exam?

Answer:

(a) Students get extra time to prepare for JEE Main online exam as it is always scheduled after one week of JEE Main offline exam.

(b) Students can easily track the number of attempted questions.

(c) Students can change their answer or mark any question for review later.

(d) Candidate can choose the exam date of his/her choice as per his/her convenience.

What are the dates for Computer Based Examination?

Answer:

The exact dates will be announced soon and each leg of the examination will be conducted over 3-5 days and candidates will be allowed to select the date on which he wishes to appear for the examination.

When can a candidate select the date of computer based examination?

Answer:

Up to 2018, candidates could select the date of computer based examination at the time of filling the form for JEE Main. The NTA is yet to release proper instructions for JEE Main 2019.

If I face some technical problem while attempting JEE Main online, what will I have to do?

Answer:

There will be enough buffer computers available at the examination centers to take care of such problems and the time lost in change of system will be duly compensated as each and every second will be recorded by the server.

When will the results be declared?

Answer:

The result for JEE Main 2019 January will be declared in February 2019 and the result for JEE Main 2019 April will be declared in May.

Will I get the question paper of computer based examination like in Pen and Paper based exam?

Answer:

So far, after the exam is over, a copy of the marked answers had been emailed to the students. The NTA is yet to declare clear instructions for the same.

How can I answer any question in the Computer Based examination?

Answer:

There will be four options of each question. The candidate must click one of the options using computer mouse which can be reviewed or answered again any time during the duration of the examination.

How can I know the total number of unanswered questions left?

Answer:

Student can view the total number of unanswered questions left with the help of the panel available on the right side. Students can use colour scheme which will indicate which are the questions answered, left unanswered and marked for review.

Can I change my answer in JEE Main online exam?

Answer:

Yes, you can. This is one of the most beneficial features of the CBT.
