National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Assam Stage 1, organised by NCERT, will be conducted on November 03, 2019. NCERT has released the official NTSE 2019-20 notification. The examination is going to be conducted in offline or pen-paper mode.
NTSE is a multiple-choice type question (MCQ) exam and is available in the following languages: Assamese, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
NTSE Assam Eligibility Criteria
Assam students who are studying in class 10th from any recognized board in India are eligible to appear for NTSE Assam. Students who are enrolled in Open Distance Learning (ODL) are also eligible to take NTSE Assam.
The following conditions need to be fulfilled by the students. They
- Should be below 18 years in age (as on 1st July 2019)
- Should not be employed
- Should be appearing in Class 10th examination for the first time
NTSE Assam Application Process and Fee
Students should check for any advertisement in the newspapers or circulars in the school by the state government for NTSE Assam Application Form details. Interested students can collect the application form from the Liaison officer of Assam.
The form can be filled online as well as offline. Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam will release an official notification once the application form is available. Students can apply online from the website or fill it offline and send it the Liaison officer’s address.
The last date of submitting the form is expected to be in September 2019. The last date should be kept in mind by the students as well as the Principals of the respective schools. The filled-in form should be signed by the school Principal before the last date. There’s no need to send the application form to NCERT.
The Application Form’s fee is decided by the respective State/UT, and students must keep the following points in mind:
- Each state or union territory has its own fee structure for NTSE Stage 1.
- Enquire with their state advertisement or circular to get details on the NTSE exam fee.
NTSE Assam Conducting Body Details
Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam is the official body responsible for conducting NTSE Assam. Any information or enquiry for Assam exam centers can be made from the State Liaison Officer of Assam.

NTSE Assam Exam Pattern
NTSE Assam is divided into two sections – Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Tests (SAT). They are further divided into 100 questions of 100 marks each. Questions from both sections are asked in NTSE Stage 1 and 2. For every correct answer, one mark will be awarded, and there is no negative marking in the exam.
- MAT: The questions in this section are designed to judge the ability to think, power of reasoning, ability to judge, evaluate, visualise in space, etc.
- SAT: The questions in this section are divided into Science, Mathematics, English and Social Sciences. SAT judges the students’ ability in reading, interpreting, evaluating and general awareness of the subjects.

NTSE Assam Result
NTSE Assam result will be tentatively declared in January or February 2020. NTSE Assam Answer Key will also be released after the result declaration. NCERT will release an official notification for the same, and the results can be checked on the official website of NCERT. The results will be declared in the form of a merit list.
Students with any discrepancy in their final result must contact the state examination agencies for further clarification.
